Although there was no senior rugby last weekend that didn’t mean there wasn’t a lot happening with some of the younger age groups at GHK.
The U-15 and U-18 squads were in West Youth Cup action with both teams scoring 58 points in wins against Whitecraigs and Mid-Argyll respectively.
Unfortunately the U-16 team’s opponents were unable to fulfil the fixture but they are due to play Moffat away this coming Sunday, 6th March. Meanwhile the U-18s are back in action this Wednesday, 3rd March when they make the trip to Hamilton at 7pm for a floodlit encounter with the U-15’s next match also away, to Ayr/Wellington on Sunday 13th March.
At Old Anniesland, we were delighted to welcome a big number of new players to our P4 group from Knightswood Primary where we have been delivering curriculum sessions as part of our GHK Schools and Community Programme. The school has made us feel very welcome and have cooperated enthusiastically to support their pupils to come along on Sundays. We were also pleased that so many parents were also in attendance which allowed them to see their youngsters in action and view our facilities at first hand.
A huge thanks to all involved in these developments especially Mr Cunningham, headteacher, and Mrs Nicolson, depute headteacher from Knightswood Primary; Pam Dewar, our Mini Rugby Convenor, Andy Martin our P4 lead coach and the other P4 coaches; and our Community coaches Finlay Aherne, Chiara Cafolla and Michael Hewitt. We look forward to continuing to build our partnership with Knightswood and other local schools.
